The Smart Growth Program has been an integral part of Pilchuck Audubon since the early 1990s, and works to train and empower local citizens to work for better growth management to stem the consequences of irresponsible development, and to ensure that sensitive areas and wildlife habitat maintain a high profile in growth management debates.

Oct 8th Green Drinks - Sno-Isle Libraries Service Center in Marysville

Green Drinks Snohomish County - Sno-Isle Libraries Service Center - Marysville
Wednesday, October 8th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm

The October 8th Green Drinks will be hosted by the Sno-Isle Libraries Foundation from 5 to 7 pm at the Sno-Isle Libraries Service Center, 7312 35th Ave NE, Marysville.  Through programs and resources, Sno-Isle Libraries works to keep residents of North Puget Sound informed about environmental issues. But they go beyond that, making sustainability a core value of the organization. That includes saving energy in library buildings throughout Snohomish and Island counties, and hiring certified “green” cleaners to keep library facilities healthy for customers and staff.

This special event includes a bonus feature: a “behind the scenes” tour of the service center.  Come see how Library staff select, order, process and deliver tens of thousands of items annually for customers’ viewing, listening and downloading pleasure.

Co-host for this event is the Sierra Club, Washington Chapter - Snohomish Group. The Sierra Club tagline is: "Enjoy, explore, and protect the planet." Sierra Club volunteers work hard to achieve a broad range of well-defined conservation goals, in ways ranging from hands-on habitat restoration to active lobbying for better legislation. Conservation priorities for the Washington State Chapter include: promoting clean transportation options, keeping our air and water clean, increasing use of alternative (renewable) energy sources, and promoting energy efficiency construction, just to name a few.
